Why is K-Thermo more expensive than K-Drum?
K-Thermo includes integrated heaters, PID thermostat, insulation pads and a more sophisticated PLC. CapEx is typically 25–35% higher than equivalent K-Drum sizes. The trade-off: 22–24 hour cycle vs 15-day initialisation, pathogen-free output, and FCO-graded compost suitable for retail / vegetable garden use.
What's the running cost?
Indicative (500 kg/day, ₹9/kWh tariff): ~₹650/day total — heater 60%, mixer 25%, blower + ancillary 15%. Standby thermostat + insulation reduce this vs continuous-heat designs. Use the ROI calculator for your specific tariff.
Does it really kill pathogens?
Yes. The 55–65 °C chamber maintained for the full 22–24 hour cycle eliminates faecal coliform, salmonella and most pathogenic bacteria per FCO 1985 (Schedule III) thresholds. Sample lab test reports available on request.
Can it run on solar / hybrid power?
The heater load makes pure off-grid operation impractical. Hybrid solar + grid is feasible — typical roof-mounted PV (5–15 kW depending on size) can offset 30–50% of daily consumption. We provide load schedule for your solar partner.
Civil works?
None needed for sizes up to 1000 kg/day — wheeled cabinet on lockable castors. For 1 TPD and above, a flat concrete pad (no foundation) is recommended for stability.
What if input volume varies day-to-day?
K-Thermo handles 50–110% of rated capacity per cycle. For chronic over-volume, oversize one tier (e.g. pick 750 kg/d if average is 500 kg/d). For under-utilisation, energy-save mode reduces standby heat.
